TOKYO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kioxia Corporation, a global leader in storage solutions, has released version 3.20 of its KumoScale™ storage software, which is based on the NVM Express™ over Fabrics (NVMe-oF™) protocol. Designed for cloud-centric, data center-scale deployment, the KumoScale storage platform offers high-performance NVM Express (NVMe™) flash storage as a disaggregated network service. Key features of KumoScale software version 3.20 include additional bare metal deployment options, seamless support for OpenID Connect 1.0, and support for NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage (GDS).
Additional Bare Metal Deployment Options:
In addition to KumoScale software’s streamlined appliance installation, KumoScale software version 3.20 adds an option to deploy on widely available commercial operating systems. In large data centers, the storage infrastructure is inevitably tightly integrated with a multitude of subsystems, e.g. B. for provisioning, monitoring, telemetry and networks. The KumoScale Software’s “Managed Mode” allows engineering and security administrators complete flexibility in configuring, integrating and controlling the KumoScale Software storage tier operating system environment, while the KumoScale Software’s “Appliance Mode” allows for easier installation and automated deployment with reduced deployment complexity for small and medium-sized business customers, but with limited operating system configurability.
NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect memory support:
Version 3.20 adds support for NVIDIA GDS. GDS enables a direct data path for Direct Memory Access (DMA) transfers between GPU memory and memory, avoiding a bounce buffer by the CPU. This direct path increases system bandwidth and reduces latency and CPU utilization. The KumoScale software behaves like a storage adapter for GDS.
OpenID Connect support:
Version 3.20 adds support for third-party OpenID Connect 1.0. OpenID Connect is an identity layer on top of the OAuth 2.0 protocol that allows clients to verify the identity of users and sessions based on authentication performed by a service account credentials authorization server. KumoScale software support for OpenID Connect simplifies security integration into CSP (Cloud Service Provider) data center environments.
KumoScale software version 3.20 also includes CSI raw block support and an embedded Grafana™ memory analysis dashboard.
